in processed food prices (+2.1 percent), among others.

Core inflation, which better reflects underlying price trends by excluding volatile food and energy prices, rose 2.8 percent year on year (3.4 percent in August). The CPI for living necessities, which consists of items that account for a large share of household spending, rose 2.5 percent year-on-year (3.2 percent in August).

The price cap on petroleum products is estimated to have lowered the September consumer inflation rate by 0.6 percentage points. Without the measure, consumer prices are estimated to have risen 3.5% year-on-year in September.

The government will strengthen supply-demand and prices management for individual agricultural, livestock and fishery products while continuing efforts to improve the distribution structure. It will also proceed as planned with measures to stabilize petroleum product prices through the price cap and fuel tax cuts, as well as support for vulnerable groups.
